The Art of Iznik Tiles

This collection is inspired by the beautiful patterns and colors of Iznik tiles, which are a famous part of Ottoman art. The designs feature floral and geometric motifs seen in these tiles, such as tulips, vines, and curved lines. I used the bold colors found in Iznik work — mainly blue, green, turquoise, and red — through enamel and gemstones. The goal was to turn these traditional designs into modern jewelry pieces that still keep their cultural charm. Each piece in the collection is a mix of heritage and contemporary style, making it meaningful, elegant, and easy to wear today

Design Process

Element Extractions

Elements were observed from the sources and extracted in detail, including lines, colors, and forms

Extracted elements were developed into new designs by using the design techniques like simplifying, adding, subtracting, repeating, exaggerating, merging, by keeping in mind the principles of design

Product Development

Selected designs were further developed into products with technical detailings

Renderings and Technical Drawings

Selected designs were developed into complete renderings with technical resolution

Final Products

Two designs—a hairpin and cufflinks—were selected for the final production phase. Both were fully rendered and technically resolved. The cufflinks were designed in CAD (Matrix), while the hairpin was completely handcrafted.
